Hi, there.

Sorry been a while since posted on here. Been enjoying family life in our 2002 t4.

had her 4 years now, without any major hitches. She has a t4life conversion, an I think shes dropped about 35mm but not sure,

But the ride sucks, im feeling every bump in the road.

So guess time to change/upgrade the shocks an springs. Dont want her any lower, go off road sometimes, an it has bull bars an side bars.

Im thinking b4s from what I read here an other places. Springs im just not sure. Know this question gets asked a lot, but what you suggest? An where can I get them? Budget undet 350, an will get a friendly garage to fit them.

many thanks

Rick

Hi Nick, thanks for your reply. Had look under van late last year on a ramp. Shocks visibly old and just look shot., the plastic is twisted an broken. As if went too high up? if that makes sense? Springs look old an rusty, couldnt tell much else im afraid with my limited knowledge. She had full service by a trusted mechanic, an he pointed out the shocks, but couldn't find anything else obvious.

had her 4 years, an the ride was much better. Been gradually gettin worse till bumps hurt my 40 yr old back! Admittedly, the roads here are , but its too much. Did seriously consider sachs HDs lot of people love them. They the bulging fat ones? but its not a really heavy van an just want a comfy ride. Thought they might be too stiff. But open to advice obviously Nick. Don't want to go any lower either. Its on 215 65 15 alloys at the back, an 195 65 15s at front. Had 18s before, an hated the ride.

Had one mate raving about Monroes but dismissed them, considered pairing vogtland springs an shocks but bilstein seem to have the votes. Confused mate, an dont want get it wrong. We planning on keeping our bus for many more year's. Wife now at uni, so money bit tight or would love to spend more money on my suspension.

many thanks

Rick.

I've got Sachs HD's and the van is back at oem height as I needed to carry a bit of weight in the back.
All I can say is good things about the shocks. It's not too firm and it has a more planted feel on the road. Not much roll in the corners either. I'll be going with Vogtland springs once funds allow. I think 40mm would probably suit your needs better if you go offroad.
I'm on 16in steels btw.
Hope this helps.

Thanks TetleyT4, that's great.

Been looking at the Sachs now, maybe dismissed them too early. They same price as B4s give or take. You think theyd pair well with the 40 vogtlands obviously. Can you recommend a source for the shocks an springs? Anyone selling them as a kit?

I really considered going back to original ride height, but wasnt convinced. Was close tho.

Will probably miss the roll in the corners, an my 4yr loves it...

not really sure about the bump stops Nick. What am I looking for?

thanks

Hi Rick
Vogtlands/Eibachs and HD Sachs are probably the most popular spring and shocker combo on the forum, so are well tested and recommended. Not overly expensive for a quality upgrade. You'll definitely notice the improvement!! :D:D

Wanapart for the Sachs. Kev from wanapart is on here and will give you all the info you need. Crackin chap he is.
Veedubtransporters for your Vogtlands

so, 4 of these arrived 48hrs from ordering. 2 front an 2 rears. Wrapped well an signed for. No invoice for my receipt box which is annoying. Part numbers match, an all look perfect. An a great price, so thanks again.

Just waiting on my mechanic, wont be this week. In the mean time I can get them out the box an cuddle them regularly. after all when they on the bus I wont be able to see them...
