I know there is no naming and shaming on here but can anyone recommend or have used either VW-T in Henfield, West Sussex or Nomad in Broadbridge Heath, West Sussex?

Both are near to where I live so any neutral or positive comments would be appreciated for decision on Converter purposes.

Going for SWB Day Van with Full width Reimo.

Thanks for the heads up. Spoke to guys at vw-t at Brighton Breeze and they seemed to know their stuff. Not been to see them at their base yet though. Nomad guys seem knowledgeable and have been to see them twice. Is difficult too make these decisions on appearance alone hence the question.

Anyone else's experience appreciated.

I used Nomad and had a pretty poor experience with their customer service when they did my Reimo. That was a few years ago though and I think they've had a change of management since then.

I initially had similar requirements to you and to be honest if I was going to do another conversion I wouldn't let geography be a factor when deciding who is going to do work on my van. If you're thinking about sinking 10k+ into the conversion then going a bit further afield for a better product is worth it IMHO.

FWIW I used Uberbus in Bournemouth to do my conversion and can't speak highly enough of the work Clough did. If you're ever near Brighton you're more than welcome to have a look at my van.

My first post to the forum! I'm also about to convert and just looking at who is out there, either local or more widespread as I'm prepared to travel. I've done my homework on lots of converters and then discovered VW-T are on my doorstep so if anyone does have experience please let me know. They appear to have a link to a T4 & classic restoration place just down the road in Small Dole? I'm planning on popping in to VW-T next weekend to view their facility andwork.

I've been on the forum for a while now but I still remember how naive I was back when I wanted a campervan for the first time (not saying I'm any more intelligent now, just a bit older!!)
The whole Camper thing seems to have taken off massively lately and there now seems to be a whole load of converters out there ready to take your money with a promise of turning your van into luxury when the truth is somewhat different..
I'm not saying there are not genuine small startups worth giving your money to but personally the reputable converters you hear about on here may cost a bit more but there is a good reason for that.

It would be extremely useful if there were any specifics that could be detailed regarding the problems. So far my dealings with VW-T have been positive. They've done 2 jobs on my van. No internal work yet, but I have viewed their handywork at their facility and I liked what they did and I'm waiting for a quote. I had a chat with one of the 2 the guys there, they've been going 18 months now having grown out of the custom kampers business down the road from them (in Small Dole, specialists in restoring classic campers I think).

With only 2 of them at VW-T they're busy, as you'd expect, but they were polite and courteous, completed my work as quick as possible while I waited and afterwards they let me look at some of their vans which were completed and ready for sale. I believe they may also be hoping for additional space soon which will help them grow. I hope this helps if anyone is considering them. I certainly am. Cheers.

Hi there,
Has anyone got any update on VW-T, I visited their workshops today and all seemed ok although not yet seen a finished van...we are hoping to buy a 2013 converted van from them once we have seen a completed example so any news on this would be appreciated....T:

Hi

You would have seen my van there then as i picked it up last night, they only did the roof as i have all the interior at home

Cant fault it, all looks good, they went out their way to put the LEDs back in for me and trim it for me too

Tom is very helpful willing to give any advice and help out with anything i needed

They part converted my LWB Kombi and did a great job. Sound deadening, insulation, ply lining, carpeting, LEDs, speakers, leisure battery, Alpine satnav/stereo, swivels, table, towbar, lowering - all done very neatly and with excellent attention to detail. Fair prices too for most of the jobs. They took some initiatives too, adding extra bits and pieces here and there that finished off each job better. They are busy (i.e. more time spent on the vans than dealing with websites, marketing etc) but nice to deal with. Recommended.

Hi!

I know this thread was started a while ago, I'm hoping people will still see this reply. Am new to this :)
Did any of the people who were thinking of using VW-T in Small Dole go through with it? Would be great to get a couple of reviews as I'm thinking of using them to get a few changes made to my brand new (to me, it's 8 years old) T5.

Thanks all!

Hi Spotty,

I have given up with VW-T, we visited in Feb and it took them until End of April, to tell us they had one we could look at, then they never came back to us to confirm we could go and see it !

If you don't mind the distance we will now be getting our van converted by Autohaus in Minehead, some of the best quality work I have seen so far, and they know what customer service is....

Just need VW to deliver our new van now I:

yes VWT they did my roof, speak with Tom, he is very helpful. van was done when he said, van went in when they said. cost was the cost, and they did some extra trimming that they didn't charge for.
