Only asking as i need some advice on how it should sound, I've never had a diesel before so dont really know too much about them but mine just seems too loud and it dosnt make a difference if i pump my brake pedal - its still noisy as hell or is that how these engines meant to sound?

If anyone is passing Peacehaven area maybe stop by for a cuppa and just have a quick look / listen

i had a 2.4 a few years back, didnt seem overly noisy but all engines are different... my t4 now seems noisy to me but my sisters t4, (same engine) sounds louder than mine :*
im in the portsmouth aera so if you on a drive out anytime then welcome to pop round an i have a listen for you

Cheers dude, just took it to a vw specialist as im concerned about this tapping / rattle

gonna give it an oil change , clean the injectors and he thinks timing could be out but he admitted that it was a bit noiser than your usual 2.4

I need to listen to another 2.4 and compare !

Who's the VW specialist mate I need one for my clutch and have fallen out with most of the local garages for one reason or another (being ripped off, too expensive or incompetent) :ILU:

very nice bloke and knows his stuff. Went there yesterday and he had a couple of t4's in his workshop, a t25 outside and a couple of golfs.

I have a 2.4 and I`m in Brighton! I get para about how loud it is. Worse from cold but then quietens down a bit when warm. Still, runs lovely mind you!

mate i am in crawley not far up the road could meet if you want i have a 2.4 i use a local mechanic to me for all my major work he is spot on did all my fuel pump and belts i worked with him for about 3 years and have recomended him to loads of people all were well happy

Hi mate, Yea could be good! Mines a 94, so I guess its getting to the slightly noisey stage now. just had belts done. Thats some story to tell! What a mess up that was! Did he sort your londness out?! Or was it ok?

My 2.4 taps like a wood pecker but once it's warm it runs nice and pumping the brake , it sounds even beter now im on veg oil to it's done 214k if I remember lol O and dose leak oil from somewhere small drips
