Hi guys,

Really could do with some advice.

Whats is the thing made up of the two grey boxes, it does not look VW original and I think it was left by the old owners, a brewery company.

The boxes are connected in parallel with two aluminium plates one each end, one side is bolted to the positive of the battery and the other end then heads off down the exhaust tunnel.

I am struggling to see where it goes there after, any ideas?

The van is 2.4D SWB 1200 1998, power steering and abs

Hi,

I just traced the wire from that thing and it looks like it goes to the rear tail light assembly on the passengers side.
Unfortunately its not so easy to look in the light assembly as i have my gas locker in the way and that needs a dryer day to remove.

I measured the voltage on the far side of the grey box device and it reads a smidgen over 12v

Wondering if this could be to do with the tow bar electrics?

Any ideas?

Finally found out what these grey boxes are, they are "STORT STOP"s, in other words high amperage circuit breakers.
Looks like I have two in parallel each rated at what looks like 20 amps.

Still have no idea what they power but starting to think it was for an old hoist that was fitted before I go the van.
