Who has got an aquarium?

My daughter wanted a tank for her birthday.
So we got her a tank off eBay in March.

It came fully stocked and looked like this.

This is what is looks like today.

It is a 110L Juwel Rekord 800 with

7 Neon Tetra
4 Surpae Tetra
2 Glow light Tetra
2 Cat fish.
1 suckermouth.
6 Endlers.
An Odessa Barb.
And a couple of shrimp.

Glow light Tetra and a few of the neons.
The Endlers are a bit blurred.

Peter and Gabriel the shrimp.

I thought they had died. But they had just shed their skin.
So they got their names from a line in Sledgehammer.

We use to keep tropicals in decent sized tank.

While our neighbor has been on theirs hol’s we’ve been looking after their lad’s gold fish ‘Billy’ that he won at a fair ground. Good on his mum who managed to nurse it back to health.

Anyways, it’s got us thinking about getting another tank and some fish and having another go.T:

Get some guppys in there too. They have babies and your daughter will have fun feeding them and watching them grow in the little mesh penT:
Those Endlers are Guppies.

They've had quite a few fry so far.
But there is only a few left.

The cat fish or the barb are eating them.
I need a little crèche thingy.

They are great. Had fish when I was a kid.
Just cold water goldfish type of thing.

But my mate has a superb tank.
He rang me to ask if I'd pick it up for him.
It was totally empty.
So I watched it come together and I was hooked.
We'd go back to his after a pint every Friday to see how he was getting on.

This is his tank.

Love those lights tho.
Is that what is known as a rimless tank? :*
What fish do you have?

How much more work is it than tropical?

I don't mind doing the water changes and hoovering the gravel.
It's quite therapeutic.

Last time I spoke to Ron (Rake project power) he was getting into Marine.
Not seen him to speak to in ages tho.
Drive passed a wave and a beep. W:

Must give him a bell.

I see you have a Dory?
Is that some kind of Tang?

I'm not very well up on it all to be honest.
All I know I could sit for hours watching the tank.

Yeah I have doryLOL:
It is indeed what they call a braceless and rimless tank. It's 310 litres:eek:

The initial setup can be expensive and you need to be patient when setting up. Your tropical from new would take a few weeks before adding fish. The marines take months. As you say though regular salt water changes are the biggest thing to keep on top ofT:

2 clown fish
1 powder blue tank
1regal tang
1 yellow tang
4 green chromis
1 purple wrasse

It's moved on a bit from earlier pic. When I clean glass later ill post pic.

Are you running any CO2 in the tropical? My plants never used to last long until I started using it!

Yeah I got mine ready stocked.
So we could start quicker.
Although I messed the cycle up and killed a load of cloud minnows.
I washed all the poop out of the filters in the sink!
Like a div. LOL:
Sorted now tho. Still you learn by your mistakes.

No Co2 yet.
Going to convert my welding gear to do it soon tho.
Just need to change the connection to fit 6mm OD airline.
And fit a solenoid needle valve.
I want to grow some carpet plants.

Thread on it here.

I can't go too big as I'm in a flat at the mo.
although I do have a massive loft that I could do somat with.

I'd love to do somat like this.

See the Co2 whatsits hanging down.

You need to plan all that well In advance.
Much like the Marine tanks I expect.
