I don't know for sure, but I suspect that F229 is built into the motor, and is not part of J519 (the BCM). The reason I say this is that typically VW treat J519 as a "black box" - they don't tend to identify internal subcomponents (and also as far as I know there are no switches within J519, though there are plenty of relays).

 

Thanks for that. I am under the impression a relay is a switch so if your saying the BCM is full of them it could be the right place. Hopefully someone in the know will clarify where it is.

 

It's not conventional to call a relay a switch, but you can call it what you want!

As I said above, VW do not typically "name" internal components within J519, so I would be very surprised if it is within that module. I did take a look at the wiring diagrams for a 2006 AXD but F229 is not identified separately on those. You might get better luck looking at Elsa for your exact model year.

 

Just found in one of the self study manuals: F229 is the limit switch in the wiper motor (although confusingly that has been translated from German as "windscreen washer motor").
