Hi Guys,
Been lurking for a while trying to decide what to buy, just sold my bike so I can finally get my dream van so a quick question what is the best overall engine from an economy point of view? I'm a truck driver so used to driving at 56 mph so power isnt too much of a problem :)
Cheers,

Andy

just had my 104 1.9t SWB remapped and from full to first yellow light got me 650miles.... was only getting 500 to 550 before so well happy!

And thats with stupidly big tyres on (275 40 20).... once i change down the economy will go up again. I'm hoping 700miles!

Thats all motorway sticking to 2000rpm (60mph) T:

I did some looking in to all this when I bought my van and a mate did the same we both worked out that the 104 1.9 was the best all round van for fuel.

he is on his second one and I am on my first still but I did buy a 85 and it's abit less on fuel so could do with remapping and that will improve it.

The general view on here seems to be the 102/104 vans seem to be the best for economy, the 85bhp should be better in theory but people end up working them harder to get the same out of them. Had 639 miles as my best out of my 102 :) and 515 as the worst so far...

Mine has adveraged 41.2mpg over the 2 years I've had it. that equates to 650 miles per tank, although I've had it as high as 723 and as low as 445! Totaly depends on how you drive it and what you have in it! BTW I have a 130 2.5 on an 05 plate 128000 miles on the clock.

104 is the best all-round for fuel economy. Around 45 on a run. The 85ps is not quite so good, due to lower gearing, less power etc.
