Hi, I'm looking to buy a Transporter to use as a motocross van, but I'll tart it up a bit and use it for the journey to work and back.

I'm not sure of all the different models and the info available is quite confusing, for example whats the difference between a T28 & T30?
I want to be able to tow a caravan and get reasonable mpg.

Is there a section here with stickies and info, or do I just ask away?

t28 and t30 are just load weights for carrying capacity.

whats probably more imprtant is the different engines.

for example 1.9 85 hp, 1.9 104 hp, 2.5 130 hp, 2.5 174hp.

not up to speed on the new style t5.5 engines though.

the 2.5s are good to drive on motorways etc as they have 6 speeds, but seem a little wrongly geared for town driving.

the 1.9s are kind of opposite as they are good for economy around town and I have got 45mpg from a 1.9 104hp.


not sure about the driveability of the 85hp engine, but has good economy.
