What do you guys reckon on the below:

De-texture front bumper, prime and paint £400.00 (inc. fitting new sport line lower spoiler)
Prime and paint upper and lower grills and numberplate plinth £125
De-texture rear bumper, prime and paint £250.00
Colour code the door handles £75.00
Prime and paint complete mirrors and bases gloss black £125.00
Repair and paint rear doors £300.00 (inc.de-badge o/s door)
Paint the centre section of the roof gloss black £200.00

Its a metallic dark blue so going for the grills/mirrors/badge/roof/spoiler all in black
then black alloys to match at some point!

at the best part of £1500 all up it does sound rather dear. I'd get another couple of quotes before going ahead.

I had my bumpers, mirrors, number plate plinth & door handles colour coded. A sportline rear roof spoiler and front splitter all fitted and painted metalic silver for 600quid. So its on the expensive side to me:cool:

I'd be interested to hear which companies are quoting those prices as I'm also based in Kent and looking to get some paint work done. Will give my local body shop a call and see what price they come up with.

They do say good work don't come cheap and you get what you pay for, but still the do seem rather high.

As above, you get what you pay for. Check out the quality of their work 1st but if their too cheap it means they'll be skimping on materials somewhere & that will show in the finished product.

I've seen really appalling work by some sprayers who want top prices. The only way to pick a good painter is to look at his past work, not what he charges. T:

seems reasonable to me and i know what's involved in doing this work.

I spoke to my local bodyshop today and they gave me these figures as rough estimates, did not have time to take the van over to see them in person.

£200 Front Bumper

£200 Rear Bumper

£30 Wing Mirror Covers (Each)

£30 Barn Door Handle

£120 Rear Spoiler Paint + Fit (I supply)

They could not advise a price for a chin spoiler or fitting fogs with out seeing van and spoiler.

They were honest to say that they have not worked on any T5's spoilers, etc...

Should a decent body shop be ok fitting them? They have done other makes and models body kits, just not a T5.1.

Just because your cheap doesn't always mean your skimping on materials at all. The materials needed for painting bumpers and mirrors would be in the region of £120 plus vat, so if a company is willing to bring down their hourly about rate £600 doesn't really sound that cheap. I charge £450 for colour coding t5 front and rear bumpers, and mirrors in solid colours, £500 if metallic. Does this mean I'm using cheap products? No, it simply means I have lower overheads and don't have to charge extortionate prices to cover them! Maybe I just start adding VW tax to my prices!! Lol

Those prices do seem expensive, however there's an awefull lot of time involved in detexturing the bumpers and all the prep work. Also Special plastic primers and such like aren't cheap but absolutely necessary if you don't want to see your grey plastic bumpers again before this time next year!
I would advise against using a 'proper bodyshop' as their overheads and therefor their prices tend to be dearer. Some also don't have (amazingly) the specialist knowledge of T5 bumpers to achieve a finish that won't just look good on the day you pick your van up but will look good for years.
We recently converted a van for a customer but where unable to slot it into the spray booth in the timescale given so he took it to a local body shop for colour coding. Three weeks later he's back wanting a quote for stripping and re-colour coding his bumpers because he parked it in the sun for an afternoon and the paint started to bubble and peel off.

I don't mean to tar all body shops with the same brush but the majority of transporter specialists know what they're doing and tend to have lower overheads/prices. :)

My local body shop are Renault approved repairers (hoping I won't get shot for saying that word) and he did say today that a lot of work goes into smoothing and colour coding the bumpers, when he quoted the prices. I thought the price I was quoted was reasonable and roughly what I was looking to pay.

Hi mate

It does sound rather expensive as I am having the below done for £1500 and this is from a Audi and Mercedes approved bodyshop.

Full respray Calcite White (Merc White)
Roof Gloss Black
Colour code bumpers
Colour code Door Handles, mirrors, spoiler and front splitter
Fit new headlights aswell as the splitter and spoiler etc.

I'll be uploading pictures on team white in a few days when I get her back.

Thanks
