Hi All,

Yesterday I broke down in the middle of a roundabout at 3am ? I have a VW T4 2.5 diesel 2003 plate. I've found out my cam belt and cam shaft have both snapped so I need to take it into a garage. I'm not sure if any valves have been damaged but does anyone know how much it should cost approximately for them to sort the engine out? Or is it worth me getting a reconditioned engine?

I'm in Leicestershire so if anyone can recommend an honest and good garage in Loughborough, Leicester or
Nottingham that would be great.

I use my van for work so I'm in a bit of a mess! Thank guys

I lost my crankshaft pulley bolt. Same engine as yours. The quickest & cheapest option was to source a replacement engine. Feel your pain mate. Good luck.:)
Btw. I managed to find a complete engine from a breakers. £1100 plus fitting.

If you don't fancy replacing the valves and camshaft yourself, remove the head to double check there's no damage to the pistons, and if all OK you can fit a reconditioned head pre-build with valves, followers, camshaft etc.

I got mine from this place: http://vwenginerecon.co.uk/
