So I would like your opinions.
In November 2011 we had our camshaft, followers etc. changed by our main dealer at a cost of about £1700.

Now I have an oil leak from the cover gasket so I phoned the dealer and was told that the gasket was re used so it's not their problem. Obviously I didn't ask them to re use it, they did bill me for sealant which was about 17 quid.

I think that they should redo it under warranty for the money they have charged.

Is this a bodged job ? Surely a main dealer would use a new gasket ?

What do you guys think an I being unreasonable ?

2 year warranty on new VW parts, so if the gasket was reused then not their problem, however i would stress to customer service that it wasn't good practise on their part when doing that value of repair to scrimp on a cover seal.

Could I argue that the sealant is a party and has failed ?

If its the 2.5 the gasket comes with the rocker cover and isnt cheap or a 5 minute fix... whereas the 1.9 comes on its own is roughly £20 and an hours work
