Hi All,

Looked around a lot and all comes back to similar issue but cant find any further details so hope someone maybe able to help!

I have a T5 Kombi 2006,

As driving today central locking locked all doors and since have had no use of any central or remote locking.

Similar to issue with cable corroded under drivers seat no LED on drivers door, however up looking this wire had already been fixed and looks v healthy!

I have removed the control unit from under the drivers seat and there is a small amount of corrosion and I have cleaned this up to no avail.

any suggestions on where to look / what to test next. :* :*

--- maybe linked or not can open / lock all other doors manually but the sliding rear door will not let me push down the lock by the handle. ---

(poor outdoor lover so cant really afford to run straight to a dealer!)

Thanks!!!

Hi Dan, welcome to the forum. Have you checked for power on the red/blue wire (the repaired one)? A small amount of corrosion is normal and unless it has corroded inside the module it isn't usually a problem.

Hi there,

Thanks, and yea I checked this and 12v on the red / blue cable at the plug.
Thoughts at the moment are that possibly have a minor leak on sliding side door window could this have knocked / blown something with domino effects from here?

I'm having a similar issue in so far as, on occasions, when I press the keyfob both doors unlock but the slider doesn't. It's intermittent and sometimes locking and then unlocking again sorts the problem.

If anyone knows how to permanently resolve this it'd be appreciated

Thanks

Dave

So got a new Conv unit and coded at local vw specialist.

now have remote central locking back... with a twist.

it only works on drivers door and tailgate. passenger door and sliding door still stuck in "safe" mode deadlocked shut unable to open (even manually)

A lot of people (including me) seem to be having the sliding door problem locking but not unlocking issue at the moment, although its intermittent i think it definitely seems to have something to do with the weather, as mine appears more unreliable when tis wet and cold. I do still wonder whether it maybe linked to a slight drop in battery voltage as a lot of people seem to be having this issue and there does not appear to be a common resolution as yet.

Theres no science behind that by the way it's just something that i am monitoring as i had a battery issue soon after it started happening but could just be pure coincidence i am keeping an eye out on how others are resolving the issues.

Cheers,
JAme

Hi All,

Thanks for any pointers with this and it appears i hit rock bottom with luck with this.
So below is what has happened for anyone else who may benefit (+ = plus vat)

- Conv unit had moisture in it - deadlocked all doors whilst driving but when stopped able to reopen manually from inside. (inc passenger and sliding doors.
- Before got new unit in post old unit began deadlocking all doors into safe mode and constant click click click as tried over and over to lock units until engine off (+20sec) or unit unplugged.
- Got new conv unit £200+, got local vw specialist to code it up £80+ (and then did a little further digging)
- Sliding door and Passenger door still in "safe mode" no luck getting these out of safe mode. All wiring looked good and tested ok.
- Got lock out sliding door and open manually via cables. Motor burnt out.
- At this point lots of manual knocking of door whilst locking and unlocking but no luck.
- Passenger door still locked shut so no access to fuel, needed mot within a week too! After a lot of deliberations, speaking to many different people in the trade and eventually gave up and cut door card in half as virtually impossible to get to the 3 torx on the bottom of door card, let along on them at the right angle to undo!
- hoping door card is salvageable as cut through at top / back of larger pocket so maximum holding it on still...
- Got all widow mech and allu sheet out the way and proceeded to shock / hit / abuse lock until 3 hours later it finally gave in!
- Tested wiring to both doors and work find.
- New Passenger unit fitted £70+
- New sliding door unit on order £130+

Before hand there was no prior warning with central locking or any intermittent issues. :*

So all in all I hope no one ever has this many issues all caused at once but guess it wanted to play a snowball / butterfly effect game against me and I think it won!
Thanks to those who offered ideas or help in any way.

Regards,
Dan :)

T5 Kombi lives on for a winter season in Scotland! wahoooooooo! A:
