Circuit Diagrams + Tips

This thread has a few very basic wiring diagrams for wiring 13 amp sockets in your camper. Ide rather post them up and make sure people get it right than not put them up and someone connect something up wrong and someone get hurt. I MUST STRESS IF YOUR ARE NOT CONFIDENT DO NOT TRY WIRING YOUR OWN ELECTRICS GET A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO DO IT. IF YOU DO INSTALL YOUR OWN ELECTRICS GET A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN TO INSPECT AND TEST IT BEFORE YOU ENERGISE THE CIRCUITS. Conductors are indentified as current 17th edition regsstate Brown - Live/Line. Blue - Neutral. Green/Yellow - Earth/ Ground/ CPC.

2 way consmer unti with RCD

Ring Circuit

Radial Circuit

Tips:

Make sure all connections are tight.

Make sure when stripping flex you dont nic the inner insulation if you do cut it off and start again.

Double check all connections.

Twist the copper strands of the flex and fold it back to give a larger area for the screw to fix into.

Use 2.5mm2 flex for sockets and other power circuits such as heaters inverters etc.

Get hold of the wire and wiggle it in the terminal if it doesnt brake its fine :)

Use good quality equipment cheap sockets are awful get things from screw fix or from a reputable electrical supplier. Wylex, MK, Volex, crabtree are all good brands.

MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL ELECTRICITY CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN KILL SO TAKE CARE AND ALWAYS GET IT TESTED BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN AFTER COMPLETING WORK.

Then have fun with power in your van.

i wouldnt recommend a ring circuit in the van , id go for the radial...

reason being in the radial if a wire broke the socket would stop working.. a tell tale that it needs repaired

in a ring circuit, if wire breaks, then you would have no tale tale as the sockets will still be working..... wouldnt fancy a live wire knocking around with kids about ...
