I gave the bottom hose a good pump and low and behold it heated up, just air caught in the rad it seems. Gets nice and hot now, not as hot as the top one, but as hot as i have been used to with all other vehicles i have owned. The van now heats up quicker too.

Worth a look for sure.
How did u pump it .
As I got same problem

hello,

The bottom radiator hose should be cold, or maybe warm on very hot days. ... The thermostat controls how much of this cold coolant is brought into the engine from the radiator, via the lower radiator hose. If for some reason your upper radiator hose is cold, this would indicate you may have a problem kamukta

You "pump it" by squeezing it....many times.

TOP hose should be at 90C or so....bottom hose should be at around 50C.....
IF it's "cold", you have a flow problem!!!

IGNORE anything said by boyjaat209 !!!

NO hoses in the engine compartment should be "cold"!!!! (Apart from aircon ones!..LOL)
His argument is also TOTALLY WRONG!!!
The thermostat controls how much HOT water goes INTO the radiator, not how much comes OUT!!!
Talk about giving BAD advise! o_O:oops:
