My other half has told me my badge won't come out my grill without damaging something as he glued it in...let me see if I can get it out first and I'll get back to you...he could be telling porkies just cos he doesn't want any more pink on my van tho...?
Sorry if I've missed this, but do these wire in, or are they battery powered (sorry - probably a stupid question!), and can you have them on when you're driving?
They come pre wired. 1 meter of Earth/Neg wire, and 3 meters of 12v positive.
Neg goes to battery or to your chassis. (plenty long enough)
and the 12v is long enough to reach the dash if you wanted to use a switch (not supplied), or you can cut the wire shorter and link it to your side light wire so it comes on with the lights, or you can just join it to your battery.
the draw of these leds is so small that a normal 90amp battery will last over 1000 hours.
Problem is, that bright shiny things which are left on at night attract light fingered people, so although nice to have on all the time probably not advisable.
Going as fast as i can :* , have so much on at the moment, but the T5 ones are not too far off
Rear T4 badge prototypes will be hopefully ready and viewable tomorrow if I get chance to get the PCBs made up,
These will be 3 wire, Gnd, Side and Brake, you can wire them up as side/Brake only or with both, side is about 40% the LED max brightness, they look good, day or night, and brake is around 90%, I can get them brighter, but prior experiance with some 1960's Mustang LED conversions we did years ago showed that if you run RED LEDs at 100%, even for short times, they dont last as long even if you use PWM circuitry.
We use the brightest HP branded (not cheapy chinese) RED LEDs and only run them at 90% and they never fail and it will still be really bright.
I have one on mine, there is a photo in the album, (photos don't actually show it very well ), but because of the silly shape of the recess the badge goes in, I am not happy with it.
It bolts up through the original holes, and the wire goes through the centre, the Brighter brake works well, but I need to spend a bit more time on it.
OK, spent some time on it today (all day in fact) and am now happy with it.
You need to use your old badge gasket ( black rubbery thing) and the new badge sits inside this. it uses a slightly smaller image disc. and they can be swapped in the same way as the front ones
I have not fitted the modified one to my van yet, will try to do it over the weekend, as I have to get on with some proper work now.
Fitting is simples,
Take of the door card,
Pull off your old badge,
Push out the gromits that held the badge in place.
Take the gasket off your old badge,
Poke the wire through the centre hole,
Slide the badge into the gasket.
Push wire through the centre door hole,
Push badge into place,
Put the 2 nuts on the back to hold the badge in place.
Run the wires round, if you have a tailgate and don't want to use the brake light option, then you've got it really easy, just drop the wires down to the number plate lights and join them. that's it. If you want Brake light option, then you gotta run them wires round to your tail lights
Barn doors, you will need to run the wires through the tube and back down to your tail lights.
I fitted the first one in about 15 minutes and had a cuppa, so you should be able to fit them in no time at all
These will be pre order, if anyone wants one then let me know they will be £35 inc postage as they are a bit smaller, Anyone that's already had a front one can have a soooper discount, will do a pair deal too
Sorry been so busy with other work that I've not had chance to answer this before
right here goes, If you already have front badge, the price for now will be £25 to include postage and a disc.
A pair, front and rear will be £63, again this is for now as I will have to do the sums properly, but I think it's about right and knocks a fiver off each one.
Single back £35 with one disc
Single Front £38 with one disc
There is currently 15 made up, but I have yet to cut the discs. And am not likely to get chance now till Thursday.
right here goes, If you already have front badge, the price for now will be £25 to include postage and a disc
Put me down for a rear Zombie in red mate as per my previous front design, I'm away with work until Friday so will pay you when I get back if thats ok.
Many thanks
Matt
