Guys poppet has here mobile on the dash (passenger side) sometimes for sat nav but mainly so we can monitor the roamer battery set up and victron gear via blue tooth on the move it works great for us but the suction holder we use has given up the ghost.

Very simply what do you use or what would you recommend.....I'm preddy much open to anything ideas wise.

As always huge thanks in advance

take care

Drew I don't know what you mean by top tray.gizmo was stuck by a suction cup to top of dash close to NS front door pillar............I bought a cup holder jobby today but that is utterly useless and will be returned...............................that said.....atop the dash is a stretch for her the cup holder was much better for her to use with her probs an all, but it wont hold round a modest corner, I don't really want to vent mount of screw into anything.any thoughts matey?.................Windscreen will be too far for her to easily access unless gimo is big and that might mess with me very rarely sure ,but ya know drivers want to see

Ive got 2 phone holders in the van.
First one clips into the heater vent at the front. I usually have this on the centre vent next to the radio which I use for sat nav. Bought it in australia so doubt you can get the same thing here in the UK. This is a similar one. I use a super short USB cable from the charger socket I fitted into the dash. I'll post a photo in the morning when it's less wet outside.
Second mount is a clip on with long flexy that I mount in the pop top to get a bit more elevation when camped out. Very often find that there's a much better phone signal high up but there's no pocket or anything similar to put the phone.
I've tried all sorts of suction and sticky mounts and they all fail after a while. Short of screwing something into the dash, the vent holder seems to be the best solution.

Andy I'm gravitating more and more towards the vent mounts..Shaz doesn't use hers like I do mine and being vertically challenged with arthitis etc the closer and more solid I can get that phone to her the better.....and yes I didn't expect my cheepo 5quid mount to stick for as long as it has....but it did and as I can't simply buy another , and know it wasn't the ideal tis worth asking around

thanks for the pics buddy

Have always used Ram mounts, never had one fail in car, van or bike. There are vent mounts, screw mounts, magnet mounts and infinite adjustability …. Pretty sure they are sold all over the world.
Phone Mounts

… although I must say that I have not been using it in the T5, have installed a CarPlay capable 2Din screen instead.

I have a vent mount in my van very similar to this one

Eono Car Phone Holder Air Vent,Universal Phone holder for Cars 360° Rotation,One-button Release Mobile Phone Mount Cradle with Adjustable Clip Compatible for iPhone,Galaxy,Huawei https://amzn.eu/d/8xoxjH4

Also find it much easier to be nearer in the vent rather than the screen, had is for 2 years so far and done well. Will grab a pic of it in the van tomorrow

Buddy steer me through this............to make your gizmo work I have to buy somethiing that fits in the cig lighter socket as an extra? Something to get the charge to the phone holder?

Poppet's phone is an honor9lite Huwawi...would that work ?.

Orion I'm braindead tired......your link interests me because the cable currently running from inside the glove box bugs the hell out of me and Shaz............... which means I then get ear fatigue;)

Yes I know I should man up and fit a USB into dash like Andy has, but honestly I already have capacity for 8USB charge points in me camper conversion, so didn't think I'd need more and right now am somewhat reticent to go there.although that's probaby me being a lightweight and clatterred sideways

Thanks for the post mate(y)

Andy right now I'm seriously intregued by Orion's above post, but bless ya for the time ( taken to test drive a product for me.thank you:D) as always mate your thoughts and wisdom are appreciated..........got a little nugget for ya i'll link you in on my thread buddy,it's a nothing really, but I found it thought provoking :)

Perhaps a holder with a long adjustable arm would suit your requirements?

Suctioned to the dash, or sitting in the 12v outlet - there are various types.

I used one 6-7 years ago, and once the arm is set to the right form/shape it was possible to poke and prod away at the phone screen without the arm moving or flexing.

This type of thing, but choose one which is the correct length/reach for your needs;

I'd like to finish off this thread with 2 fiings, first somehow I opened a new account, didn't realize I'd done that until mates here alerted me, they have also got me back on track. so that's why we have one guy starting a thread and the same guy maybe adding closure under a different moniker
I'm, still me stu see team blue for a slow build a good degree of madness both wood and leccy wise and my passion wildlife/ mum nature

Secondly.......after doing a fair bit of reading with conflicting info, poppet's phone probably does not support wireless charging..so for the mo. we have gone with Andy's blukar linked above. just tried briefly tonight seems to work for us well

Heartfelt thanks to all posters here cheers for ya time apologies for the 2 accounts I have no idea how that happened

take care all
