For any peeps wondering about removing your Catalytic Convertor,
And/Or Blanking your EGR & Its effects on the MOT.

I have a 1998 102bhp SWB T4 170,000 Miles on the Clock.

It has No Catalytic Convertor
It has a Blanked Off EGR
It has a Bluebird Stainless Exhaust System
K & N Panel Filter

IT FLEW THRO THE MOT T: T: T:

Easily within the Opacity Limits of the Test

Opacity Limit 3.0

My Van 0.6 T:

Could not QUANTIFY for sure if there is a performance increase but the van does pick up alot better since the EGR has been blocked & the back doors are'nt covered in black **** anymore T: T: T:

Took mine today to get front 2 boxes replaced, guy quoted me £360 for the front Cat box!!!!

I told him to order the front one off a 2.4d and fit that, NO CAN DO he said! I said Whats that, somewhere near KATMANDU? GET IT ON!!!

And he did, £120 for front 2/3rd's. More expensive than Ebay cheapo's but price was fitted in 20 mins flat, which included order and deliver parts from PARTCO down the road!

With the EGR blocked too it seems to go a little better but i suspect its a Placebo/Emprores new clothes thing!!!!

Doesn't sound like a tractor anymore though!!

Can I just say I've just blocked off my EGR, and when cleaning the housing out it was so full of soot and gunk that it effectively halved the diameter of the inlet pipe. If that's typical of what happens over time with all vans, then there'll definitely be a performance increase even if you just get it back to standard! :D
