Hello Transporter owners,

This is a generic question to anyone who maintain their own vehicle...

How do you dispose / recycle service parts such as old engine oil, filters (air, pollen, oil, fuel) and fuel left in the old fuel filter?

I always take the old engine oil to the local tip which they have a massive (and stinky) tank to pour the oil in. I often see oil filters been left lying around by the tank. I ask about the filter and the staff usually mumble "chuck it in household waste mate..."

What's the proper way of disposing them? Can air, pollen, oil and fuel filters be recycled?

What about small amount of diesel left in the old fuel filter?
I wonder if I can drain the fuel from the bottom of the filter, use coffee filter (or some sort of filter) and pour it either in the new fuel filter or straight into the tank?

Just wondered what everyone else does with them.

Happy motoring!

Pollen and air are just paper so cut off the rubber seal and into the card/paper recycling
Oils brake fluid coolant all taken to local recycling centre
Oil filters in general rubbish
Diesel from filters i drain into a bucket soak some thin strips of split wood in it and hey presto a few free fire lighters for my wood burner
Metal diesel filter goes in metal recycling T:
