Hi

I have a 2.5 tdi 1996 new shape diesel manual acv ENGINE.

The exhaust section off the front pipe seems like it has just got a 150mm dia box on it on the short section then a straightish long piece to the mid box of the pipe.

Its like an L shape.

It has always passed its MOT and I have had it for 4 years.

Do people replace them with normal sliencer boxers,

Any help wopuld be most grateful, as a CAT box pipe is about £322.00.

Are there after market parts without CATS to fit this section.

Did you know putting 'catalytic' into the search function gets 32 results?? I:

In short though - no, you don't need one, as there's no emissions test on a diesel, only a smoke test - and your 'cat' is really a particle filter.........

In a rush, did a quick search.

It may be a CAT, its got a VW stamp on it, god knows, Euro and GSF sell them around £86 - £96 with a CAT.

Anyone used these.

What kind off section do I ask for if I dont put a CAT on, VW only sell the CAT for this van.

Hey - no worries - and whilst it's lablelled as a cat - it isn't really one, it's a particle filter.....

Just do away with it - cheaper and simply not needed for mot.....
