The roughness of the engine & the noise of the starter motor not retracting quick enough.
Listen for the whirring sound just after the engine starts up. That is the starter motor being turned by the engine.
sorry for late reply, coolant looks new, so it's either recently been changed due to a service or they have changed it to hide a leaky head problem.
Its been a few years but my T4 never sounded like that...
I hear a ratlle when you walk past it to the back. Could be as simple as an exhaust which needs tightening, or something costly like a rattling clutch. Also the engine sounds sluggish when revved, Did you testdrive it? I'd recommend an pre-purchase inspection.
Good ears! The exhaust under the mid section needed fixing as it was rusted but the engine was the bit that troubled me, I haven't heard a like for like comparison and was wondering how normal it sounded.
