Right,

I'm about to carpet / ply my van.

I'm going to remove panels, carpet them, carpet the metal, carpet the panels then re-attach the panels (after using Kings insulation 50mm bottom 20mm top).

I think this seems to be the correct way.....

MY QUESTION
------------------

a) How do I attach the ply? Screw back into the holes already there?
b) Drill through the ply and into the van then

should I do both with self tapping drywall (black non rusting) screws?

Thanks muchly! - nick (yellow AA)

the panels may not screw back in to the same holes as when you carpet the panels/wrap over the edges, they then sit a few mm higher,i just screwed good self tappers in without drilling - just straight through

Or you could use self DRILLING screws. These are similar to self tappers, but you don't have to predrill the hole. Something like these.
I have been using these sort of screws at work for years. They are VERY good. T:

Yep, Jurasik is bob on. The self tappers witha sort of half drill bit at the tip are the way to go. No need for drilling nor nowt.

Black drywall screws will go straight in. After all they are designed to fix plasterboard to metal studs.
