Hi guys

Advice please.

I have bought a brand new T5.1 panel van last november..

Since then, I have put side windows in and a double Kombi seat in the back and removed the bulkhead,
I've also put 20" wheels on.

Do I need to notify the DVLA or insurance?

What are the pros and cons?

is it cheaper or more expensive to insure?

Thanks guys, any advice would be welcome

You can notify the DVLA if you want but, unless you are making substantial changes, they probably won't care.

You don't have any choice about informing your insurance company. You must inform them of any modifications - even for example if you just fit a towbar.

It'll still be classified as a van (so 60mph max speed limit on dual carraigeways etc.), but you'd be best advised to tell the DVLA it has been changed to a window van and you need to tell them of the change in the number of seats. Send photos of the inside and outside of the van with the updated form.

You should have told your insurer when you did the conversion - it will change the liability (more passengers). Cost should be about the same as you paid as a van.
