Hi guys (girls) Running an ex-AA with 102 bhp showing 138k, my mechanic has just become a dealer for an ECU remapping specialist, being quoted 20-30% power + better torque & economy for £200 (trade price) anyone with any experience, I don't want to wreck the driveshafts etc!

Hi Dantro, yes he can remap to produce whatever you're looking for i.e. torque, economy, power etc He's got the equipment to dowload the info from the ECU on to a laptop as a file, this file is then e-mailed to the boffin, as at ecu remap HQ who adjust the numbers in the file accordingly & send it back, it's then downloaded back to the ECU, voila! I'm trying to chip him on the price as a favour / guinea pig / demo vehicle If any one else is interested let me know. [email protected] or 07974382416

Be interested too. TDI conversion, de-cat, bigger intercooler, EGR blanked. Maybe if there's enough he'll do us a discount?T:

This is a great idea for standard vehicles, but as soon as you make any mods - intercooler, nozzles etc, you need a custom map, and the only way a tuner will know your vehicles needs is by running it on a rolling road.

I am sure it will improve your standard van, as long as the boffin at HQ has experience of the engine before, but what will work for you might not be so great for others.

Not trying to urinate on your bonfire, hate to see you spend money and not get what you expected. This is the reason PP uses a rolling road.

basicly whats been offerd is a base map nothing more or am i wrong .

every engine is diffrent and if this is the case which reading it i wouldnt waste my time or money , only way it should be done is on the rollers in my opnion then fine tuned on the road or track .

rollers are loaded but its always best to fine tune real life for the perfect map and drivers style in my opinion

ECU remapping is by a company called www.moboilecuremapping.co.uk (Dowloaded & uploaded at Autocare Services in Exeter)

I've had my ex-AA van done, the result?
Certainley more go & pull but still a bit sluggish under 2500 rpm especially in 4th/5th but no more old ladys in Micras overtaking me on hills!!
Cheers Mark
