Why the volvo petrol? Try Darkside developments they can get the VW 2.5 to 350bhp will probably cost less as well

 

Thinking of the Volvo lump as it’s got plenty of torque, and being 5 cylinder it sounds lovely..
really want to get away from the diesel setup if I can.

 

Will Volvo ECU's talk to VAG ECU's? Most of these conversions are an absolute ball ache due to wiring and software compatibility. The engine can't run in isolation, the whole van needs to be able to communicate.

 

The R32 engine was available from the factory so should be a relatively painless install parts wise as you can get the numbers from VW as long as they are available, however am not sure if it was available in RHD have never seen a T5 V6 in the UK but I have seen a T4

Good luck but as the basic chassis is the same from the T5 I don't understand the reluctance but so be it
