Hi guys

I currently have a t4 1.9td which I love but I would love more power from a better engine swap out? BUT -

In my little journey I have saw a few t5's with the 'blown engines' so I'm thinking Ahhhh maybe a buy a cheap t5 shuttle/kombi/ panel van and put a new lump in that. Do the engine ,DMF and all the suspect parts while it's off the road....so my question is the 1.9tdi engine is it the same as in the golf pd130 bhp engines?? If it isn't is it swappable?? To the vans 5speed box??

Has anyone done an engine swap Already with good or bad results??

I have posted the same question in the t4 forum but not had any replies...??

Cheers

Yeah wasn't the best explanation lol

I would like to get t5 with a mega high mileage or blown engine(non runner) either a 1.9tdi or the 2.5 engine a replace it with an engine from say a vw/seat 1.9pd 130/150 bhp engine?? If it is possible?? If it's not possible I can end the journey now and stop looking at this as an option.

The only reason I ask regarding the t5 was I've been speaking to a guy who has a vw shuttle with a mint interior and body are great condition but the engine has blown.(needs traiering away) So me was thinking the golf pd engines are plentiful and cheaper than another transporter 2.5 lump(ÂŁ2000)... So my man maths was racking my little brain .......

Despite the general concensus on here it IS possible to fit a PD130 into a t5. I forget the code but suspect it's the Awx and avf lumps iirc. This then opens up all the tuner options available for the thousands of pd lumps out there such as the larger nozzles and converted turbos darkside and the like fit. I'm waiting for my engine to have component failure and I'll be having one fitted myself!

Yeah when I've been looking around for info and read the link from blowpipeT: it seems a lot is do-able. It defo makes sense to drop the golf engine PD130 in as there plentiful cheap and tuneable. I own a golf 25th anniversary tai 150 that's revo'd but it's way to good as a donor but if anyone was ever to rear shunt it hmmmmmm.... Lol

I would like the t5 with a 2.5 lump but it looks like they take a bit more looking after than the 1.9 engines...

Personally I'd avoid the ARL's and tune a PD 130- the 150's have a lairy cam in which doesn't seem to stand the test of time as well as the pd130's. A hybrid turbo with a billet turbine, map injectors and boost pipework will easily see 230hp/ 350ft/lbs- which I've sat in a mk4 with this setup and it was absolutely savage, the torque was unreal and it held boost with minimal fall off to almost redline- it made a joke of my BAM S3.
Once I get other things sorted out I'd love to get a PD130 fitted, I know of someone local-ish that does a drive in& out service and has done a fair few now. Once the lump is in and my wallet has recovered I also love the idea of the 3.0v6 tdi turbo gtb----VK, can't remember the numbers of the one I'd bookmarked, it's just vacuum converted to suit a PD. I think darkside run a similar setup in their mental drag strip lupo.
