Morning Guys,
Could someone Please tell me if a 1.9d Turbo Engine can be fitted to a 1.9d non turbo van
I have just brought a Caravan and The T.4. seems a tad low on power.
Tis a 1994 T4. We are a retired couple and to cruise at 60 mph is enough for us,

ps our T4 is such a good van we don't want to change it.
It is a leisure drive H T crusader camper but also we don't want to ruin it.

Answer is yes the problem would be not just the expense of the engine but all the ancillaries (turbo inlet and exhaust manifold) although you might be able to transplant some bits from your engine. You could go the Tdi route if you are mechanical minded but its a huge job and you will be without the van for a while.

Sounds a problem,
Do U think I will do harm to the van if we persist with the 1.9d,
It is hills where the problem comes in We drove it back from St Neots yesterday with the van in tow and on the flat it is no problem,

you wont harm it as such.
if your ok with dropping the gears then stick with it.

alt would be to fit smaller wheels to help with the gear ratios but that will throw the speedo out.

i towed an eriba pan(500kg) behind my old 1.9td and it could be painful on the hills down to 40mph on the motorways, fitted a tdi from a golf and it pulls better but still not fantasic on the hills.
