Hi all,
Am looking at buying an 05 t5, how can I find out whether its a euro 3 or 4 engine?

Thanks

I looked into this and I think the government realised that they were on to a looser so I think that the £130 road tax only runs for a run of 1.9 vans from the beginning of 06 euro4 t5's for 6 months!!! After that they stopped it and went back to charging £210 even if it's a euro 4. Most t5's are only euro4 after 06 although prob some crossover as with t4's and other euro grades, as said above check with main dealer. Worth knowing if your upgrading to go into London as you'll not be compliant from 2015 if your van is not euro 4 compliant so any T5 older than 2006!!!!!!! :*

Yeah but smurf if the government had kept to their word of helping out businesses and giving a road tax benefit for those helping the environment and running euro 4 or higher vans, you should only be paying £130 for the year!!!!! I don't know how they got away with this one....:* shocking

I can't believe this has not been touched on before now as its quite allot of money to shell out extra a year. I only stumbled on it as I've been on the look for a T5 and was trying to work out why some were on a lower road tax band for the year. As said above if you go on the government website the 1.9 euro 4 T5 should be £130 for the year.

That's right the T5 became euro4 in 2006 so only T5's built in that year qualify for the £130 road tax and then they stop it!!! Until euro 5 for a year...and when do T5's become euro 5? What's all that about then, so if you buy a newer T5 say 2008 with a cleaner engine you pay more tax!!! It makes no sense......:*

Where did you get that information from please ?

I have an email from TFL that states my euro 3 is compliant "for the foreseeable future" !!!

Hi Brian if you go on the LEZ website the next phase of the regulations come into place in 2015, and all vans of this size will have to be euro 4 or newer. This will mean all diesel T4's will be non compliant and T5's older than 2006. Sorry for the bad news but the wording of their letters are a little naughty as they don't give people the full picture.
