Hi new to forum, looking around some great ideas, just purchased a t5 and already getting much use of it, planning a road trip, YES ITS EARLY but always good to plan ahead, guess that the job in me lol. Anyway any ideas, want to go through south of france, Italy then back up through mount blanc then see where it leads after that, doing 2/3 weeks, any tips, pointers ideas. I don't mind not camping in main towns as I could always bike into the bigger places or use local transport.
be much appreciated, hey or maybe we could get a group all going lol...
no seriously I would appreciate any tips thanks keep it real..T:

Hi

I was thinking of starting a similar thread.

This year I went down to Annecy on the edge of the French Alps, it's a beautiful town and well worth a visit. I stayed on the towns municipal camp site. It was basic but within walking distance of the town and lake.

I will defiantly stay there a couple of days on next years trip before venturing to the higher mountains then on to the coast.

Still on the look out for other places to go though, so come people help us out!

Hi up to last year i have spent the last 8 years doing courier work throughout europe and in this time i cant think of any parts i havent been through, and as i was working for myself i have had to find the cheapest places to fuel up,the cheapest way avoiding tolls and i have never had to pay to stay anywhere,as once out of the uk things change for the better as there are lots of places to stay without paying with toilets and showers etc,as for doing a trip to italy, one route i would favor would be through belgium to luxembourg fill your tank at lux as it has the lowest taxes in europe so cheap fuel, then through germany to kempten over the stunning alps to innsbruck then down to venice, then down the coast to ravenna, then cross italy to pisa and the fantastic walled town of lucca. ps dont do what i did in lucca and try take alwb sprinter through as it gets very narrow and i had to have apolice escort to reverse out about 3/4 of a mile, then you can start making your way back up to mont blanc, but if it were me i would go back up through switzerland, yes the trip to mont blanc is amazing but it hasnt a patch on going through switzerland and of course before you entered switz you would have to have a day at como, then after switz there are many routes you could take,i would take the non tolls through france. if you use the motorway in austria you will have to buy a vignette available at most garages its about 8 euro for ten days, going through switz you have to buy a tax disc at the boarder about 30 euro for a year running from 1st of jan to 31st dec,if i can be of any help just pm me

Beautiful photos. Are you free camping in Scandinavia?

I just found a website with Tourist Routs in Norway.

Cheers guys yea I think we spent 3 nights in campsites for the whole 40 odd days we were there. Really easy in the t4 probably. Bit harder in something bigger. There's lots of tourist routes but to be honest all the roads are stunning.

We did something similar only in reverse this year!

Started in Switzerland, headed through the alps to the lakes in Northern Italy then down along the south coast of France before heading back up via Paris and a few places in between.

Switzerland is expensive but stunning. Well worth a couple of nights stay and also head up into the mountains if you get the chance. Theres nothing better than setting off in 30 degree heat in the morning, then spending the afternoon playing in the snow 10000 feet up before heading back down into the heat again!
