Evening all,
I replaced my alternator this evening.(2.5 Tdi 03 plate) The battery went flat on friday night, put a power probe on and it was running at 11.6V and going down when the lights were on and it was running. So I changed the alternator and it has made no difference. Should the multiplug on the alternator have one or two wires? mine has one (is this a broken/missing wire?)
Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Jason

Try using the multimeter on the alternator connections and not the battery. That should tell you if the alternator is kicking out the right volts to charge the battery. If you have 'needle probes' should be able to pierce the insulation on the wires to the alternator connection, plug:*

Morning,
cheers for reply. The problem was the main wire from the battery to the alternator started to brake down and indoing so was making the wire very hot and then blowing the fuse
