If your front double folds there will be a 'strap(s)' popping out of the back of the seat or in the storage area of the seat. Generally some seats fold those in a van that had a bulkhead didn't.

You can get the parts from TPS to make it a foldy.
Ive got a note of the part number which is 7HO881321 but need to confirm this.
Not sure on any other parts needed ie straps etc etc...
Will get more info on Saturday but ive been told the parts come to around £80.00

my van had a bulkhead and was a panel van, it did have a folding seat with no strap, I had someone point it out and managed to loosen the nut to enable it to fold, I now have a piece of cord to operate the seat :)

I to never knew I had a folding seat, it took 6 months for me to find out,
Lifting the seat base look at the centre support , just above the seat belt mounting, if your seat folds there will be a square nut or something that turns , turn it to release the latching mechanism.

I'm assuming there were other parts connected to mine that are missing, even so it still folds if I use a tool to operate it T:

I've got a foldable double front seat sat in my garage if it's any good to anyone.

It's in inca fabric with the leatherette edges and is in very good condition.

I'm not willing to post or wrap it up for a courier to collect, but if anyone want's it, feel free to PM me I:

Having now converted my non-folding front double seat to a folding one I have updated/edited post 7 above with some more info, I hope it helps someone.
Many thanks for posting this, as previously posted I only found we had this after 6 months owning the van, looks from your pictures I'm only missing the pull strap part (36 7H0882631A pull loop; PR-3CA,3CX) , is this just a push on fitment to the square nut?
Might go and get one if it is.
Thanks.T:

I think these are the parts you require to operate the mechanism with a strap

http://www.partsbase.org/vw/transpo...-001-7h-a-050-000-88115-front-passenger-seat/

34 7H0881348 cover; backrest lock; PR-3CA,3CX
item 34 protects mechanism plus two bolts to fit it.

35 7H0883835 tensioner

36 7H0882631A pull loop; PR-3CA,3CX OR

7H0882631A 9B9 satin black

37 7H0881606 lever for folding backrest

IF YOU HAVE PARTS 34, 35 and 37 fitted you need either of the item 36 (grey or satin black)

Picture show lever fitted with a strap temporarily fitted

Hi all - I'm wanting to convert my double fixed to a folder, and I'm getting a bit confused :)

There is a stack of parts above, is each and every one of these required? The reason I ask is that there is a company called outdoor technical that also make a modified hinge, but say that all you need is the hinge and that's it, no mention of all these other parts.

Not sure what to get :*

Doubles are pretty much worthless, I'd look for a second hand folding one and swap the bits over.

Having read the blurb this hinge is supposed to ALSO alter the angle of the seat back which is a good idea as well as making it a folding seat. I would be asking your question to the seller about what is in the kit, In the list you quoted its the items in red plus possibly item 40 that are required to convert the seat (I think item 40 is the bolt in one of the pictures in the link below the parts list )

You need a mechanism to make it fold as well as the hinge and it looks like there is a lever on the hinge to do this on this device..

I spoke with OT today and their product in fact is all the parts listed with the exception of the seat back board. The hinge is also modified to give a 10deg of extra recline over standard. Bearing in mind the parts from VW are knocking on £140-£150 with the VAT, I don't think that an extra £40 or is is too bad for the extra recline position. I just need to double check I don't have a folding mechanism before I decide what to do! I definitely don't have a pull strap but I have read that some people discover they have a folder mechanism even with a bulkhead!
