Tried removing front shock on drivers side this weekend but could not shift the upper mounting bolt nearest to the back it seems to have a captive nut attached to the subframe which started revolving with the nut while I was trying to undo it, any ideas how I can stop this revolving? I'm guessing it will have to be welded or something? Anyone else had this and managed to deal with it?

I had this, use a hacksaw to cut the nut and then spilt it open with a chisel. Clean the thread up & fit a new nut that will cost you less then £1 from TPS. T:

Most people get round it buy spot welding the bolt.
If you don’t have access to a welder undo the cross member bolts too about half way on the side you are trying to change. lever the cross member down and you will see that the bolt has a hex head, wedge a ring spanner on it and do the cross member bolts back up to hold it in place you should then be able to undo the nut.
