Hi there,

I've just bought a T5 which is due for a service and has an engine issue (cuts into limp home mode if on a wide open throttle past about 3000 revs, resets when key turned off and on again).

Any recommendations of somewhere close that has a clue re diagnostics and will service the van whilst they're at it?

Cheers
Clive

I'm hoping to drop it off somewhere today - any guidance appreciated. Otherwise it'll go to a local garage that don't specialise. I wouldn't mind for a 1.9 as they're common lumps but the 2.5 isn't in a lot of other things I understand so a non-specialist is unlikely to know them well....??

The best man in miles is Nigel at Automotive Engineering in Kingsthorpe Hollow, Northampton. I've been using him for years. He is a genius. I doubt he could just fit you in though.

I would just get a local garage to service if it must be done today but make absolutely sure they use the special VW grade of oil and then get it booked in for a proper diagnostic later.

I presume you bought the van privately - otherwise you'd throw it back at the vendor to repair?

Thanks - have changed plans and booked in with them next Friday. They seemed a decent straightforward bunch on the phone, it'd be a relief to find a garage to use long term that's pretty close.
