Hi guys,
I had to be towed home last night after our '94 petrol T4 bled to death in sub zero temperatures (Thanks AA). Earlier this year I fixed a small rad leak but forgot to top up the diluted coolant with more antifreeze. Yep I'm a DUFFER! Anyway, after locating the source of the leak (what looks like a drain tube above the steering column) the AA guy reckons the heater matrix has blown.
My questions are -
Are these difficult/tricky to fit?
Could I have damaged anything else?
Any other dipstcks out there done the same thing??
THANKS
Matt

I have just changed the heater matrix in my 2.5 tdi only to find that it didn't need changing!

Dash has to come out (the final screw is in the centre at the top of the bulk head accessed from under the bonnet);), then disconnect the 2 inlet/outlet pipes to the matrix from under the bonnet. There are 2 more screws in the bulkhead that hold the heater box that contains the matrix to the bulkhead. The matrix slides out vertically, but you need to move the box (carefully) to a point that you can lift the matrix out without hitting the windscreen.

I had a nightmare and managed to break one of the cable holders:(

Good luckT:
