Are you sure it's the lights and not something else? The thing about lights is that just about the only way they can drain the battery is if they are on when they shouldn't be - and generally that should be easy to spot...
As Triffic says, highly unlikely to be the headlights. More likely just coincidence that you've noticed it after you changed the lights.
Exactly what headlights have you fitted, VW oem parts or aftermarket items ?
How good/old is the battery ?
To prove whether it is the headlights you could try either disconnecting them both when you leave the vehicle or disconnect the light switch itself, (which may well be easier !). Also, ensure your indicator stalk is in the middle, (OFF) position when you leave the vehicle.
