Just wanted to drop everyone a quick note to say HELLO TO EVERYONE on ths forum, which I have to say tells me everything I need to know to maintain and modify my recently acquired 2005 1.9 T5 (84bhp). Pretty standard SWB, bought it fully colour coded with 20" Range Rover Sport Wheels.

I had a place in Pontypridd South Wales remap it from 84bhp to 130bhp for £150; the guy said 130bhp was max he oculd take it to unless a bigger Turbo was fitted (prob a Golf MKV Turbo - somethng I'm not keen on as insurance companies ramp up their premiums massivley for these kind of mods). I don't think the tuner was spinning me a line as he's a German auto-electical specialist and has no interest in acquiring or fitting an uprated turbo for me Note: he's not a tuning specialist, it's just something he's got some experience of

So far I'm really pleased with the increased performance, however it hasn't seen a rolling road, so I can't to confirm the 130bhp. The MPG hasn't changed either; I'm still getting 500 miles per tank since the remap (I was getting befre the remap @ 84bhp) - even though the increased power is a novelty and I'm therefore accelarating much harder and generally driving a lot faster than I did before! I'm sure I would get better MPG if if I drove it with respect!

Regardless of the recent remap, after spending a couple of days browsing the forum I think it would be best to get a tuning specialist look at my T5. I've just spoken to Celtic Tuning who have advised that there is no need to change the turbo to get the power gains I'm looking for (150bhp plus). Celtic Tuning regularly get 160bhp from 84bhp 1.9 T5's as long as there's no underlying issues with the in engine etc in the first place. Celtic Tuning offer a mobile remapping service; however if you take it to Celtic Tuning's HQ in Cornwall the actual cost of the remap works out slightly cheaper (obviously you have to pay fuel to drive there - think of the road trip!); but yby going to thier place of business you do get the added benefit of using their rolling road at no extra charge :)

I'll pay them a visit as soon as I have the cash (their posting me a broschure - like as if I need any more temptation) , I really want to get for their eMotion device, which allows you to select 3 different power mappings at the push of a button (the benefits of this device are endless). Also thier emotion device isn't that much more expensive than their standard one-off remap :)

So that's a very long winded hello for me ; albeit with an update on where I am with my new toy! This site should come with a DANGER WARNING! After spending sometime browsing the forum, I literally want to spend 10k PLUS modding my T5!

Yo Rage
Where in Ponty did you get yours remaped, my mum lives down that way and I'm going there on tuesday. Even though I'm in love with my 2005 1.9 84bhp swb T5 a few extra horeses would be great and for £150 too.
