Had the flashing Glowplug light on the dash, no brake lights, so checked blubs-fine, replaced brake switch and changed the fuse-which had blown. However new fuse blows immedialty and tired a 15a which also blew. Any sugestions of what could be causing the fuse to blow???

Right, after further investigation the fuse is going as soon as the switch is activated. Any ideas anyone?

Try removing the bulbs, sometimes they can short internally. Check for dodgy towbar wiring and water ingress to the rear light clusters. If that all looks ok you will need to get underneath and check the main loom for damage.

Well, recently wired up a towbar tot the rear light cluster using spade conductors. Will remove them and give it another go.

Right ho, i've removed the towbar electrics- now the fuse doesn't blow- however still no brake lights and the glowplug is still flashing. Any further ideas??

You might need to re-set the brake light switch if you have moved it. Remove the switch from its bracket and pull the plunger out as far as it will go. Then re-fit the switch to the bracket while holding the pedal down.

Right i'll try that- however the switch i got was one of the redesigned green switchs- which i've been told is self setting. But i'll try it. Thanks a lot!

Brake lights are working! So it was the towbar electrics which seemed to be shorting out the circuit. When i went back to the switch the plug actually had worked it's self loose somehow.
So as regards the towbar electrics is there a textbook method of doing them?
