Hi All,

My 99 Caravelle has a socket at the top of the tailgate window that delivers 12V when the brake pedal is depressed, so I'm assuming it's for a high level brake light.

It obviously doesn't have one fitted.

Would the absence of this light be a cause for glow plug light flashing? I know it's got something to do with the brake circuit - brake pedal switch has already been replaced by garage, rest of bulbs checked, etc.

Also anyone know where I can get a replacement for it, as it seems to make sense to fit one if the wiring's already there.

I was always under the impression one of the reasons the glow plug light lit up is if a brake light failed. i *guess* it measures resistance. If a bulb is broken or missing= less resistance.
If you have 12v at it then i am guessing the ECU thinks the bulb is blown.
I know chuff all about electrics but i would test it me'sel. get a 12v bulb , a soldering iron and a couple of pieces of scrap wire.
In 5 mins you can test the theory by bodging a bulb across it . save ya'sel £30 to find the answer out aswell!

Good thinking C-D-S, sometimes it takes someone stating the bleedin' obvious to send me in the right direction. Will give it a whirl....now where's that soldering iron....
