Hi,

The last three times I have been refilling with diesel I have opened the filler cap and have a massive amount of air rush out with fuel as well, I have to undo the cap like that of a fizzy drink bottle to slowly let the pressure out.

I always keep the tank at least 3/4 full.

Any ideas? Its on my 2.5 T5 AXD 2004

It could just be the fuel foaming up as it sloshes about - most supermarket & some other fuels do not have an anti-foaming agent, so it may just be a combination of the fuel you are using & never letting it get below 3/4 tankful.

Hi,

I have also tried leaving the van overnight and opening the cap the next day and it is still holding a huge amount of pressure.

I also don't use supermarket fuels, Do our tanks have a breather setup?

thought fuel tanks did not have breathers these days were connected to engine via a charcoal cannister or other means so vacuum on undoing cap is not unusual not sure about this thou

Think this is a breather to aid filling tank quicker not sure about this either
