I have a SWB T5 with a high roof fitted. Now I want an awning fitted that can be closed up at night and is big enough to use as an additional room when camping out.

Can anyone suggest a place I should go to for a supply and fit job please?

What you probably need is an awning rail and then the right awning to suit your needs.

We’ve got one of these fitted as have many other people on here.

Not in any way cheap but does the job well and doesn't look too shabby either. comes with German instructions but it's not that difficult to fix.

Line it up
Drill some holes
Apply the supplied adhesive
Stick and screw.

to which we attach one of these awnings:

Plenty big enough for Jane and me.

Kyham awning seems to have attracted a cult like following on here but to us they are over priced, over engineered and none to flexible in a strong wind.

if you wait around long enough someone will pop up to tell you why the Kyham is such a good buy!

in the mean time happy camping!

Kyhams are great and such a good buy..

Why..because they go up so easy..the last thing you want when camping is getting to a site and struggling with poles and loops...argueing with the other half and getting stressed..the Kyham is up and attached to the van in 5 minutes

In fact they are so easy to erect the other arf can do whilst you have a cold one..I:I:

Yes I like what I saw from the links you posted but I do not like the idea of the instructions being in a foreign language. I have seen vans with a tube affair on the side which I believe is where an awning is rolled into but so far nobody has mentioned these. What I really need is a supplier who has various models on display or maybe an awnings show.

Hi Pete, try Norwich camping, they are stockists for Fiamma and Omnistor which are both companies that manufacture wind out awnings. they also have loads of awnings/tents erected out the back. the wind outs are inside.........:)

Hi Nigel, its good to hear from you. I will contact Norwich Camping and have a look around. It will be two weeks before the T5 is returned and so there is no desperate hurry. I have been contacted by CamperVantastic and they have a good selection but what I really want is one that winds back into the side of the van rather than having to try sticking it to the van somehow as that seems to be problematic. I will check them out thanks.

I have the FIAMMA F35 PRO.
Clicky Here

You roll it in and out by hand (as opposed to winding it in and out).
It's easy-peasy to use and more low profile than the normal fiamma's.

You can also buy the side and front panels if you want, to make it into more of a room; however, we just tend to put a couple of wind breaks up.

I can dig you out a photo if you're interested. G

A few piccies of my F35 for anyone interested...

Awning Wound Out...

Awning packed away...

Mountings for awning to van. It's quite discreet, but I would like the whole thing to sit a bit close to the van roof. I might look at making some custom brackets to make it a bit neater.
