So I installed a "wireless" reversing camera the other day and now my battery is draining to the point where its not enough to start the Van in the mornings....

The reversing camera uses a transmitter and reciever. The transmitter is wired into the reversing light so only comes on with the van in reverse. The receiver is wired into the radio power that unfortunately doesn't need the ignition on to work so is always on...

How can I stop this? I need to wire the reciever into somewhere. CLose to the radio for power as the feed to the radio is short. Can i stop the radio from being on all the time?

It depends what year vehicle and what headunit you have, but only the very earliest headunits have an ignition switched supply. All of the more recent headunits get the ignition status via messages over the CAN network, and you can't operate them on an ignition-switched supply.

One option - if the power consumption is low - would be to piggyback off Fuse 19. TBH I'm surprised that a receiver would take enough power to flatten the battery overnight though - so I would suspect that your engine battery probably isn't in good shape either...

Sounds more like your radio is draining the battery anyway and the camera is the final straw. By sheer luck (and daily use) your alternator charges your battery just enough to let you start up in the morning.

Fix the constant power to the stereo and you'll probably fix the entire issue. Perhaps investigate if there is a compatible CANbus adapter for your stereo, so it powers off when you turn off the ignition.

Or not. I'm not an auto electric specialist btw so I could always be wrong ;)
