A newbie type question I'm afraid!

We are considering a campervan - probably a T5 or T6 conversion. In respect of insurance I have a few questions:

  • Can I use my existing no claims bonus on this vehicle? It would be a second vehicle, so is it easier/normal to approach the insurer of my main car?
  • Does DVLA classification as Motor Caravan make it cheaper/easier? (is this why you get it reclassified by DVLA?)
  • Does a converted van count as a vehicle ‘modification’ with respect to insurance? Do you need to declare it, or the specific details of the conversion?
Cheers

Hi,

From my short ownership here is my opinion, second motor carry no claims no issues T:.

You will find that your insures probably wont cover camper vans so only 4 or 5 specialist companies will, search here as a few are on this forum.

If the Van is a standard conversion i would still state everything that has been done for your own piece of mind from a pop top too alloy wheels .T:

Hope this helps , not very detailed i know .

:D :D :D

I’ve been with A-Plan for my last three vans, always provided a top service. I transferred my no claims to them
