Is a CFCA engine still a cause of concern?

As the title suggests I might go look a camper next week but it does have a CFCA engine. As these are over 10 years old now i was wondering if they were still a cause of concern? Will this always be an ongoing issue or have the bad ones been scrapped or fixed by now?

As the others have said, the EGR needs to have been blanked from new or a new engine and blanked. It seems from most posts that you will be lucky to get to 80k before replacement. I bought mine with 50k and had the engine replaced at 79k, when oil consumption hit 1l per 800 miles. Being a camper the issue can be exasperated by long periods of sitting idle.

Move on mate. Plenty of other campers out there.

Just buy a 140 and remap it to 180. ( I am speaking from experience, my last van was a 2012 180 Caravelle. Never again want that stress with a vehicle!)

The 2010 to 2014 180's with A, B and C EGRs are getting cheaper by the day as folk are more wised up to them now. Dealers won't say a dicky bird about "issues" they just want the cash.

Even if it has a replacement D or blanked I honestly wouldn't bother. Unless it is really dirt cheap and you fancy throwing ÂŁ10K at it like others on here have?

And then the hassle of driving it probably halfway across the country for a new engine anyway...🤷‍♂️

Maybe, just maybe if it has 100% immaculate proof of a NEW engine. But again why bother?
