Hello folks.

Anyone had work done on an engine by Ivor Searle Engineering?

Need a 2.5 AXD block boring and re-sleaving and probably get the crank polished etc.

Cheers

They were very good. I'm not sure if they do any r5 engines though, as I needed one for a Touareg that snapped a rod and they couldn't suppl one

Did my 02B gearbox and, whilst not cheap, is still sweet.

I may be wrong, but I thought the 5 cyl engines were an alloy block with nikasil type (patent chrome plated) bores. Thus no liner, and no rebore possible. If you're lucky, they last forever; but if you smash something it's a new engine required....
Unless the technology has moved on since I was in that game abut 10 years ago.

Seems a design choice for a utility vehicle, probably something to do with the AXD/AXE's Porsche V10 origins.

But I can also say Searle's had a reputation as one of the top reconditioners in the country, (assuming the engine allows).

Itchy,

Had some problems finding a reputable company that can deal with the AXD block. The block apparently is made of a high strength alloy, the bores are coated with a powder using a plasma burner..Not many Engineering companies can rebore this block but Ivor Searle apparently can. In the end I have shipped my T5 in bits to Deutschwerks where they are in the process of rebuilding the engine. Block has gone to a specialist. :(

That's strange as when I rang Ivor Searle regarding a 5pot engine, they told me they don't do anything with them. I am now waiting to hear from Vege, but I'm still waiting for an answer after calling twice in 2 weeks, still no answer.
