Headlight aim has annoyed me as well as they are new lightbar ones that I got a Halfords autocentre to align for me after I converted my from end. That was only just over a year ago. Apparently one is now too high and too far to one side!

 

An option is to remove the emissions sticker or cover it and take it to another mot test station, they will have to test as presented and will use a pre set emissions levelthat yours will pass. You will then have time to sort any issues.

 

Yes.! cover the sticker with black tape and they have to default to 3.0 I think. Basically i don't believe the 1.9 PD could ever blow 1.2 - even cars with DPFs are limited to only 0.7 and they shouldn't have ANY smoke... Mine is stickered at 0.9..!!?!?

however, try the Archoil ar6400 (?). it is very good and dropped 1.0 off mine. thrash it. check the boost seals and all hoses. then you're down to injector seals, injector servicing and perhaps oil leaking past turbo. Obviously check for any fault codes stored

 

How would I stop oil leaking past turbo? Are there seals that can be replaced or is it new turbo?

 

tape may not cut it, youmight need to deface the plate a lot.

worked for me on my T4. - took a little while to work out what was wrong with emmisions, tried everything, turned out the twatalyst was totally clogged.

PS on previous vehicles where I suspected the injectors, I have drained the fuel filter and filled it with neat injector cleaner.

This might not be a bright move outside the house when all the neighbours have their washing on the line, or any windows open.

Hi all, just been back for a second go at the MOT having put a bottle of pre mot redex through it and replaced all of the intercooler pipe seals (8 of them!). It did better but still too high. Tester suggested a Terraclean. I have had the EDR off and cleaned it (a few weeks ago). It is already pretty oily and sooty. Could too much oil be getting through? But then I would expect blue smoke and I am not getting that - just black!
Readings attached - nearly got there!

Actually got worse at the end! He said it was a bit odd that it got worse. I got it hot and gave it a good run pre mot.

have looked at injectors on VCDS and look within tolerance. Also can’t see anything wrong with sensors. I may have to post some data on here and get an opinion.

any ideas what to tackle next?

 

Thinking of taking off the inlet manifold and giving that a good clean out. Anything to improve the air flow to try and balance off what seems to be over fuelling.

 

Did you cover the VIN plate..? These engines really aren't designed to have the nuts revved off them unloaded..!! Last sneaky thing you could do is to adjust the position of the throttle pedal sensor so it'll only rev at, say, 50% WOT. Then it definitely won't smoke so much..!!
