So we have a young lad in the office who is always coming out with some little gems, but this one is priceless :)

He thinks ( because someone told him its true ), that atoms although closely packed together have spaces between them.

He firmly believes that if you ran at a wall infinity times that you will actually travel through it... :D

Genius....

If you get a diamond.
And enlarge the atoms to the size of a football.
The next atom would be 100 yards away.

Yet they still hold the shape of a diamond when you look from a distance.
Even tho the atoms are nowhere near each other on closer inspection.
Solidity. Is an illusion.
And even the atom is 90% space.

So

What creates the boundaries in "stuff"?
Which stops us turning us into soup?

Where and what is the information that keeps atoms in a 3D form?

I know you can't walk through walls.
But your mate is almost right.
Wall + walk = headache.

Spocks the cleverest man on here. Fact!!!!A:
Spock is very clever :)

I am glad to say, it was the young fellows last day yesterday as he is off to Thailand for 6 months :D

No more early morning conversations about who is the hardest marvel superhero or would I rather be a Hobbit or an ewok..

poor lad, seems like he was attempting to discuss quantum physics with you all, quite an old theory though, the key to it is "infinite" if you are interested here are some people on a physics forum discussing it.

Electrically charged particles T:

But how do the atoms know that they should be "x" distance apart.
And where is the information held?

Within the seemingly empty space?
Space makes up the biggest part of the equation.
The mass is tiny. In comparison.

Is there an invisible cosmic web that holds this information/energy?
Like the wire frame of a computer generated model?

Fiction. LOL:

I don't know about that mate.
Dr Magpie is a lot more knowledgable than me.

I just ask a lot of questions that most people can't answer.
That even I don't know if they make any sense.

Like.
Is the whole universe fractalised inside every single atom in the whole universe?

If so. Do I have I tiny meatball and chippy inside every atom in my body?

So. There are literally millions of meatballs. And millions of Keefs.
And every time the big one (In this reality) moves. They all move?

And inside every atom in your body. Is encoded a little me. Sitting in my kitchen.
Getting you stoned from the inside out! LOL:
Multiplied by a few billion instances.

Now that could be the case.
Because fractalised geometry can go on for infinity.
But you'd be looking forever. Or infinity.
Whichever one ends first.

But what I want to know is.
What creates the boundaries in stuff.

What stops us blending with everything we touch.
If our atoms are so far apart?

What is in the space between atoms that is providing information to the atom?
How does it take the information from within itself and "perform" exactly like the atom on the map inside itself?

and finally.

Do you want a crisp butty?

Frig me, Spock. My heads exploded! !! These are the questions I think about all day, only I work with simple folk and they've no interest in theories. If they can't eat it, it doesn't exist.

Deja Vu Spock!!! You must be in my mate's head somewhere. Not only did our Saturday night conversation cover the subject of crystals and diamonds and atoms, but it ended on what flavour is best for crisp sandwiches.

Mines an egg mayo with cheese & onion crisps T:

Excellent choice sir. T:

Personally. I'd of had a tuna and Mayo with salt and vinegar crisps.
Pre fukushima obviously. :D
