Hi all I bought a few months ago rear led lights from van-x when i fitted them they worked fine for a few weeks then the bulb warning light came on, I narrowed this down to it only coming on when the brake peddle is pressed,it resets every time the ignition is turned off until brake pedal is pressed again, I have phoned van-x and they told me to buy 2x 50w 12v 6j resistor which i have done
I fitted 1 resistor to the left hand light tested brake pedal it illuminated faulty straight away so i fitted the right hand side as well which solved the problem, i took the van for a drive to check ever thing was ok got back home removed the lights the left resistor was cold but the right one was very hot it had melted the sticky pad i had stuck it to are they meant to get very hot and why only one of them was hot:*
when i fitted the resistors I wired the black lead of the resistor to the earth cable on the light and the red one to the brake light i am not sure if they need to be wired a certain way round, i have removed both of them now as i dont know or understand how they work as they say "little knowledge is dangerous" where would be the best place to mount them i think they would melt the plastic light
I would be very grateful for any info thanks T:
