Hi all, I've just bought my first T5 and I'm well please with it, But..

Took it out to stretch its legs and discovered that's she's limited to about 77mph. Initially I was furious but now see that it could be a good thing as its probably been that way since new.

Its a 102 tdi 1.9 diesel, 58 plate.

Any advice welcome..

I looked at a white T5 from M4 vans that was restricted they told me it was going to be £1400 to change the ECU.

I have the identical van but no restriction it will do 95 plus easy, I would suggest a few more inquiries as to de restriction as that just seems a rip off.

But on the bright side it will be a lot better on fuel and has not been caned.

Good luck

mine is the same i was soo ed when i bought it.. i looked into getting it re-mapped will be about £250 - £350 just really annoying when you want to over take someone and its a struggle... but my vivaro was a 1.9 and it would do 100-110 easy!!

Cheers all, (apart from the obvious 2.5 owner!)

Not allot I can do til Tuesday anyway as no where is open. I'll get it into my local vw specialist then and see what they think, the dealer I bought it from has agreed to refund me the bill so long as its reasonable (£1400 seems reasonable right??) I cant see it being more than a re-map to be honest.. probably have that done while there in there.

It pulls really well to 75mph then just dies off suddenly so its definitely a limiter.

Job done, she's been in the garage had the limiter taken off and been remapped whilst they were at it.
