Hi all. Yesterday my van suffered from total lack of throttle response and went into limp mode at 1200 rpm with glow light flashing, fortunately only a mile from home so I managed to get back safely. After a day's research on this forum and the internet in general, having ruled out failed brake lights, the problem appears likely to be the throttle position sensor.

Can anyone please tell me where this is on a 2003 2.5 TDI? I've added a couple of photos of the pedal box but haven't dismantled it to see if it's inside the casing. I just can't find any information on where to find the tps and I'm trying to decide whether I can replace this myself, or need to find a VW specialist in the Aldershot area.

Very many thanks in advance for any help with this.

Andy

Thanks for the very speedy response. Is that the black box in the left hand picture with the sticker on it which forms part of the pedal assembly, or the black tray on the right hand side above the pedal with loads of other wires in it? Is it a fairly easy swap for someone who doesn't have as much confidence as he used to years ago in pre-drive-by-wire days when taking vehicles apart was relatively straightforward?

Cheers.

Sorry, just read your reply again and you quite clearly told me it's integrated into the throttle pedal. Probably easy enough to get at for me to fix myself.

Thanks again for your help :)

Most common failure is the wiring harness in the engine bay.
