Hi all

Looking for recommendations for campsites in the Loire Valley, July, T5 with an awning.

Ideally... pitches over looking the river, nearby market town, site with facilities ie shower block, shop, beer!

Many thanks in advance.. and enjoy your 2018 trips!

Some great campsites all along the Loire Jim.
We like the town of Saumur - Ile d’affard, le belle rive, l’tang de le Breche, de chantepie.

Thank you everyone. Great responses, much appreciated.

Would I expect to pay toll charges from Calais>?

Hi Jim.

we purchased a toll Tag (Sanef) and then the money gets directed out of the bank at the end of the month. Saves keeping coppers and having to stretch across the cab.

That's a cool tip, thank you - where did you purchase it, in France.. online.. etc..?

When we booked the tunnel last year, there was a link with the confirmation. It waived the joining fee of 10 euro's.

you could try

Sully sur loire - nice little campsite, 5/10 min walk into town

Gien - couple of campsites here with Camping Gien right on the river - again short walk to the main (bigger) town.

both of these are more towards Orlean and you can get there from Calais mostly off toll roads but still on dual carriageways.

or further towards Nantes is Montjean Sur Loire - camping le promenade - short walk to smaller village/town

have fun

We stayed at Vacance - La Roche Posay last year, first time camping in France and loved every minute. About 10/15 minute walk in to town, right on a river (can't remember which on), they hired out kayaks so me and the girl went for an hours paddling, wonderful.

Bit pricey but you gets what you pay for.

We passed a tidy looking municipal in Clisson last year, it was being refurbished so we could not stop there.

UK campsites have a list of sites in most parts of France, usually member validated.
