Right, my turn to give this a shot. I've been loving looking at the rest of the builds on here so I thought I'd try and document a little of mine for posterity.

I'm Matt by the way and I've been after a T4 for many many many years. I foolishly bought a Renault Kangoo trekka once which was a very bad idea (Beer & eBay do not mix at all). Anyway, my best mate found this little peach on eBay when I was in Norway for crimbo. Simon (top lad) from scarborough was selling and when I eventually got back home i went straight down to Scarborough and basically it was love at first sight.

I'll try and document all the little bits I do along the way. My aim this year is to take Syd up to Norway to my Girlfriends parent in Beiarn and then back again the scenic way. This site is already a font of the best information around so I thank you all in advance the help :)

This was me on new years eve when I finally handed over the cash and then half an hour later I had to get the train back to work offshore :(

The van I a peach so theres no major work involved (which is nice) A:

Managed to make it back from Norway to get to Dubs in the Dales this year at their new location. Not bad weather for the time of year but it got quite cold late on. The heater got a good bit of work. Lots and T5's & T6 there with loads in total. The new site was quite different to the old site near Bedale but at least this one is actually in the Dales.

Back again from Norway for a few days so took Syd with the lads up to Tan Hill for the bank holiday Saturday. We thought it might be packed but there was plenty of parking left up there. A good few nice vans up there too. Quality night there with great beer and live music too. Only a tenner for the camping spot and paid for a full English breakfast too! Can't beat it!

It was my mate's first night sleeping in his T5. It's a steep learning curve for him be he managed.

Matt what an awesome and inspiring thread! I did the NC500 last month and I have to agree its stunning up there, we took a long time (12 days) to do it as it was my birthday but also fitted in Skye which I would 100% recommend! I'd also recommend anyone traveling up the east coast near Dunbeath to take shelter at the Inver campsite for the night (a hidden gem with exceptional facilities) and then take a wee stroll to the Bay Dunbeath bar across the road - epic views of the east coast sea, amazing stone cooked pizza and great beer on tap! (try the sheep shaggers gold ;))
Quick question, a few pages back you shared a picture of your oil sump which looked like it had a small leak, what did you do to fix this? I did an oil change when I got back home and after removing the belly I experienced the same symptoms as you, sodden fabric on the internal part of the belly and some signs of oil seeping out from the sump itself. I've looked online and on the forums and some people suggest changing the gasket/seal. As your image is nearly identical to mine I just wondered what you did/ or plan to do?
Cheers

Cheers. I've been to Syke a few times but never in the Van. I need to go back there one day soon.

Aye, the sump had a few slightly loose sump bolts on one side that I could reach. It really needs the sump dropping and the seal renewing but it helped enough for now. I've still not properly sorted the other leak from the gearbox speedo sensor but it's been ok since I checked the level in there. It sits through the winter until I get back to the UK which is never good for it.

The final leg home from Aberdeen was where Syd came into his own. This was what he was made for. Getting me to the foot of the mountains in the middle of nowhere. I dont have to worry about getting home or think about staying somewhere.

This was up Glen Esk just south of Aberdeen. I went up the most easterly of all the Munro's this time, Mount Keen. The forecast was brilliant and I finished work early so why not :)

The Queens well where a spring pops up and Queen Victoria once drank from (Its just over the mountains from the Balmoral estate)

I didn't stay here long. There was a massive wasps nest hidden under the rocks here 😱

Found a cracking little camp site in the woods right at the mouth of Glen Esk
